A number of vascular blemishes can be effectively improved by light and laser treatments, such as telangiectasias (broken veins), rosacea, angioma (red moles), acne red marks, leg veins and vascular birthmarks.

Rosacea
Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that causes redness of the face, most commonly affecting the cheeks, forehead, chin and nose. There are different types of rosacea, some may have a tendency to flush easily, some progresses to persistent redness with increase in visible, threadlike blood vessels (telangiectasias). Some may have pimples like eruptions. Others may affect the eyes or have thickened skin of the nose.

Treatment
Although there is no cure for rosacea, various treatments will improve its appearance and prevent further progression. Treatments options for rosacea depends on the type and severity, including oral and topical medications, lifestyle modifications, laser and light therapies and their combinations. It would be helpful to avoid triggers that exacerbate rosacea. Triggers are different for each individual. Some common triggers include sun exposure, weather, heat, exercise, alcohol, certain food and beverages.

Laser and light treatment for rosacea

Laser and light treatment are useful in reducing persistent redness and decrease the number of visible blood vessels (telangiectasias).

The combination vascular laser system delivers two different lasers independently or in a synergistic way. Both lasers (Pulse dye laser and long pulse Nd:YAG laser) target the blood vessels and pigment. By selecting either laser or used in combination, the laser system can target safely and effectively unwanted veins and vascular lesions with a minimum of discomfort and side effects.

The IPL system is also a safe and useful way in the treatment of rosacea. Multiple treatments may be necessary to achieve optimal results.

Leg veins / spider veins
Visible dilated blood vessels are commonly seen over the legs. Spider veins are small superficial blood vessels that appear red or blue in the skin. They commonly occur on the legs, but are also found on the face or other areas of the body. Female hormones play a role in their development and birth control pills, pregnancy, or hormone replacement therapy may contribute to them. They may also be related to pressure such as overweight and prolong standing, or as a result of wearing tight girdles. Spider veins on the nose or the cheeks of fair-skinned people may be related to sun exposure.

Laser treatment of leg veins
Laser absorbed by the hemoglobin in the blood vessels is able to destroy them. Vascular laser system(Pulse dye laser and long pulse Nd:YAG laser) target the blood vessels and pigment. By selecting either laser or used in combination, treatment can target safely and effectively unwanted veins and vascular lesions with a minimum of discomfort and side effects.
