Cryolipolysis procedure
The underlying science of this procedure is based on the fact that fat cells are more vulnerable to cold than surrounding cells. Through this targeted cooling technology, fat cells can be safely and selectively eliminated without harming the skin. It is a non-invasive way to gently and effectively reduce fat in selected areas, thus improving the body contour.
During the procedure, an applicator delivers precisely controlled cooling under the vacuum pressure, to target and eliminate fat cells in specific body area(s), usually flank (love handles), lower abdomen and back fat. It does not require anesthesia and typically patients can read, use computers, or just relax during the procedure. It may take one hour or more to complete the procedure, depending on the size of the desired area to be treated. One may resume normal activities on the same day after the procedure. The usual side effects of the procedure include redness and bruise of the treatment area. Redness may last from a few minutes to a few hours whereas localized bruising usually clears within 1 to 2 weeks. There may be numbness over the treated area which may last for 1 to 8 weeks.
After a single procedure, the treated area is expected to show a noticeable and measurable fat reduction in 2 to 4 months. Your doctor can then assess your condition and consider additional cryolipolysis procedures to achieve more fat reduction. It should be understood the procedure is not intended for weight reduction, treatment of obesity or a substitute for liposuction. You are encouraged to keep on a balanced diet and have regular exercise in order to maintain more long-lasting effect.
